Thank you forum members for recently making me aware of the batch metadata editor.  Now I'm ready for the next step.

I have a set of files with a number of keywords embedded in the jpg file and I want to remove only one of the set.

kw: pets;dog;cat;rabbit
kw; pets:rabbit;fish

I want to remove ONLY the rabbit, but leave the pets, dog, cat, and fish as is.

prefer to be able to do it in thumbsplus, but I have no problem using a stand alone program.

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / finding and deleting duplicates

Good point.  I guess I'll have to go through and use the tagging process.

When viewing tagged files, they show as if they are a gallery.  Is there a way to actually delete the file from there or do I have to copy to a folder and kill them at that point?

Is there some process within TP that will allow me to identify and then automatically delete duplicate photos.

I tried to copy all of them into a new folder hoping that I would receive an option to replace/rename/delete but that didn't happen, they just all got copied.

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / keyword search (not)

> keyword = 'dog'))

How can I modify this to return all thumbnails that have no keywords at all.  (keyword - "")

I am trying, but it appears that this will not work for video files.

Can you think of any suggestion to save comments in the video and import into the tp data base as the thumbnail is created?

I need that ability to to search for files without a particular keyword, and it needs to tie in with an advance search.

File name mask: pet*.*
keyword not "dog"

Also need this to pair with an advance search and keyword not "dog"

Yes, it's true that VLC will grab a snapshot, but using the snipping tool actually requires let effort and fewer mouse clicks.

Not to sound ungreatful but...

Is there any way to have that search look at folder names?

Yeah, I know, don't push my luck :)

Close.  In fact, close enough that I changed the single quote (') to a double quote (") and it's doing exactly what I want.

Thanks so much for the help.

Can someone help me with the correct syntax for an advanced search.

I need the equivalent of "contains" that I see in other programs.

Example: tn.[name] contains 'sea'  would find "old man of the sea.avi" and 'seaman first class.jpg' as well as "sea level.mp4"

I know a little bit about SQL but I've found that not all SQL statements work in Thumbs Plus.

There is a little known feature in windows 10 (I think it's in 7 and 8 as well) called snipping tool.  This allows you to capture all or a part of your screen.

Play your video in your favorite player (full screen) and freeze the frame you want.

Then  use snipping tool co capture the frame.  Once that's done, the capture is in you clipboard.

Last step:  Highlite the video in thumbs plus, click thumbnail/make from clipboard and you're done.

When I select the "report" layout for thumbnails, that is very close to what I want on paper.

Is there a way to print a catelog with a layout similar (or identical) to that thumbnail layout?

What about using galleries.

You can even enter multiple keywords and then use the find function to locate and place them in the correct gallery/subgallery.

For example my movies are listed with the following galleries:

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / sd cards
« on: 2016-08-05 18:28:32 »
When an sd card is inserted in the reader (or a usb thumb drive in inserted) windows assigns a drive letter and the files are all accessable as if it were a normal hard disk.

Unfortunately. Thumbs plus doesn't recognize these drives until you close the program and restart it.

At that point, I can access it with thumbs plus as normal.  I can even assign a volume alias to the card.  But if I remove the card, I would have expected to see it listed as an offline disk, but it's not there.

Am I missing something, or is this a feature that just doesn't exist?

Thank you for your suggestion.

Sadly, the file loading option did not work.  I tried a percentage of file, as well as last non blank frame, and pressing F3 brought no results.

The good news is the fact that the make from clipboard (which I never realized existed) works like a champ.  Even better when instead of a complete screen grab, I used windows snipping tool which gave me even more control over the appearance of the thumbnail.

Again, thanks.
