Windows Explorer thumbnails disappear
« on: 2021-12-05 22:32:26 »
I have a new laptop and the thumbnails in Windows File Explorer either don't get made or disappear and it seems that T+ is causing this. Every folder in which T+ makes thumbnails prevents Windows Explorer from making them, or if they were made by Explorer, they disappear.

This does not happen on my desktop (or on my previous laptop).

Any suggestions?

Windows 10 21H1 19043.1348
Thumbsplus 10 SP2 4015

Explorer stores its thumbnail cache for each folder in a file named thumbs.db.

ThumbsPlus ignores those files. I can't think of any way that it might interfere with the Explorer thumbnails on your system.

Thanks Daan,

I narrowed this down and it happens only on Dropbox, not on any other Windows folder. Seems to be a known problem on new installations like mine. They do not have a solution, only a weork-around: https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Dropbox-files-folders/Thumbnails-are-missing-cannot-preview-images-on-local-files/m-p/400616/highlight/true#M146525

I did, however, observe how thumbnails disappeared when I viewed the folder with T+, but that may have been coincidence.

Maybe the folder was refreshed when ThumbPlus read it, and that triggered it..?  Anyway, good that you found the problem and I hope the Dropbox people will fix it!
