Browsing mobile phone?
« on: 2013-06-23 01:26:20 »
Connecting a Samsung Galaxy S3 ssmartphone to the computer
turns up an icon for the phone in "my computer", and the phone
can be searched in an explorer window, file operations can
be done.

However, the phone gets no drive letter and dos not show up
in Thumbs Plus. Is there a way to browse phones like this with
Thumbs Plus?

Cheers, Michael Quack

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your continued support of Cerious Software.

If you can see this phone or its files as a directory or an offline volume in Windows you should be able to see it in ThumbsPlus.

What do you see in Windows?

Please send me a screen shot of the view of this device in Windows. Also, what do you see as far as the properties of this volume or file? If you can get to the properties dialog box please send me a shot of this as well.

Kind regards,
Laura Shook

Hi Micheal,

Well Phillip and I thought probably not. But then Heather (my assistant) interrupted with the news that she has helped others with this same request! Go figure. She is learning fast!

When you plug in the phone with USB, there should be some kind of notification window or pop-up that lets you go to USB options.  In those options, you will need to switch the phone from MTP to PTP (Camera).  Once that's done, open ThumbsPlus, go to TWAIN setup, and the phone should now show up in the drop-down menu.  Then, just go to Image Acquire and browse to whatever folder the images are in. However it probably depends on the phone.

I think that is cool!

Kind regards,
Laura
