ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Can't run thmpls10sp2.exe
« on: 2018-03-07 04:40:18 »
thmpls10sp2.exe is zero byte file. It's not gonna execute.

thmpls10sp2.exe.part exists, but what do I do with this?

System is Win7 64bit. Thumbsplus10sp1 is already installed.

WTF am I supposed to do?

You can add new bars across the top of the screen and customize them by adding/rearranging icons and menu items onto them. Where are these stored? What file? What folder is the file in?

I've changed the .config file to .config.old, and the .ini file to .ini.old before installing a new release, then removing the new .config and .ini files, and renaming .config.old back to .config and renaming the .ini.old to .ini. This restores most everything (all settings), but it does not restore the working space that I've customized.

Please. What file contains your working space customizations? And what folder can it found in?

Also, I open an existing database that I have (I have two). When I open them, my old keywords are in it, but the keywords have new entries that were already deleted once. How can I prevent the database from populating itself with the default keywords? I don't want them, and it's tedious and a lengthy process to remove the unwanted keywords. How can I prevent these 'default' keywords from populating my list of keywords?

I have been using build 3938. I've been told to upgrade to build 3943. I don't really want to do this unless I can retain my working space customizations and retain my keywords without getting them cluttered with keywords that I don't use!

What file is my working space customizations in, so that I can back it it up and restore it? And how do I prevent my keywords in a database file from being corrupted with new, default, entries?

Thanks in advance.

ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / 6 months later, same problem
« on: 2014-11-18 05:51:43 »
WHEN will TP be able to show a 1920x1080 image on a monitor whose resolution is 1920x1080?

I Keep getting this same problem, build after build. I'm now using build 3938.

WHEN will I get this feature fixed? WHEN!

I am growing very weary of this problem.

You also have broken links on your site. Are you people serious or just cerious (the dog star)?

What file has my custom interface settings? I know it's not in thumbs9.cfg or thumbs9.ini. This has been tried before and I still had to manually set up my custom workspace. What is the name of this file, and where is it located (which subfolder)?

Thanks.

How does one do this? My old camera had a utility to import photos but it doesn't work with Windows 7. What do I need to make TP 9 use a memory card reader? Do I need to get twain software to go with the reader? The specs on the reader say nothing about twain software.

Windows' Photo gallery will most likely read the card reader, but I'd rather do this from within Thumbsplus. Please tell me what I need.

Thanks.

When I open an image for editing, the image has a non-functioning window frame around it. This frame shows a close box in the upper right corner that is not functional, and all around the image is white rectangles.

Chosen settings for opened image:

Show full screen.
Shrink to fit.

My screen resolution is set to 1280x1024. I am using a Geforce 860 GS.

Images that are 1600x1064, (3:2 aspect), then shrunk to fit, display this problem.
Images that are 1280x1064  (.83125 aspect) which is my screen resolution, display this problem.
Images that I reduce to my screen width's resolution (1280) and are 2:3 aspect (vertical is 851 px) display correctly.
Images at my screen resolution display this problem. Any image that is 1280 x >851 displays this problem.

When viewing in a slideshow, I don't have a problem. The images display fine. The problem only occurs when I open the image for editing.

I don't know what to do about this. The help file's page for Preferences/Advanced/memory describe the Bitmap window size for larger images, but all it says is "This should almost always be set to zero (0) for newer display adapters." Well, my display adapter is not newer, so I've tried 2000 (the maximum number allowed), thinking that this is the problem. I don't know what number to use, but most of my images are 1600 x 1024

I need this false window to go away. I lose detail and can't see the real sharpness. The window has a close box in the upper right corner, but it is not functional. I believe this might be a program bug, and not a settings problem, but I don't know. All I know is that this frame is NOT supposed to be there because the viewing setting is shrink to fit, centered.

How do fix this? I suspected the Bitmap window size for larger images parameter, but I don't know what kind of number to use. I'm guessing and getting nowhere.

PLEASE HELP!

I want to reinstall TP9 because somehow I lost the bottom status bar. I don't know how many files are in a folder and other information that is provided by the status bar.

What files do I need to back up? I can see that I have to back up my database files (tpdb8 files), and the thumbs9.ini file. Are there others?

There's a config file (thumbs9.cnfg). Does this have my menubar items in it? Is the status bar in this too? Should I or should I not back this up and reinstall this?

Where are the keywords stored? This has me the most worried because I have five or six weeks of work done and I don't want to lose these.

Please advise ASAP!

Can I remove a bogus entry for opening files in the 'open with' drop down? How do I do this? I see the ability to add a program. Where is the ability to delete one?
