Immediately after upgrading my registered TP9 to 3927, I can no longer use it.  Will there be a fix soon? Otherwise, I suppose I try installing an older version.

Every time I start TP, it gets stuck during ThumbsPlus is starting...

BTW, once in this state I can't close TP. If I try to close the status window, it just comes back. The only way to close is kill it with Task Manager.  That's bug #2.

Also hangs if scanner is on before starting TP 3927.

You could try running it from the command line with the -notwain or -safe command line parameter (but it might not be worth the trouble if you use TP to scan images/docs, because that part of the program would be disabled).

Thank you again for your continued support for ThumbsPlus. I am sorry that you are having trouble.

This problem with hanging on install as well as the runtime problem can be fixed very easily.

The problem is that an application other than Microsoft  has installed a .dll to the wrong folder. This is why ThumbsPlus is NOT working.

Cerious Software can fix this problem running a diagnostic that Phillip Crews has created!

Start menu go to PROGRAMS>THUMBSPLUS>UTILITIES>THUMBSPLUS 9 (DIAGNOSE START UP.)

Upon running this diagnostic you will get an error message (PROBABLY AN INTEL error). What this means is that an application other than MS has installed a .dll to the wrong folder.  

You can rename that dll to an extension that is not recognized (ie: .old) or delete it from your system.

PLEASE give it a try and let me know if you need further help.

Yes, that diagnostic told me about another program with a copy of msvcr90.dll.  I replaced it with a newer copy from elsewhere on my hard drive.  TP works again.

I am having the same problem as the original poster.  However, the new "Diagnose Startup" program doesn't help.  When I run it, I get this message twice:

"The application failed to initialize properly (0x80000003)."  

There is no indication of a particular DLL that should be disabled.

Have you tried downloading and installing the latest build? (3928)

Let us know so we can figure this out if it is indeed a totally different problem.
