Good Morning,

Using the latest ThumbsPlus 9 Build 3934, I was wondering to why Metadata information is not displayed.

I use a Nikon and shoots both JPG and NEF.

In the Info window selecting JPG file, File Date and Date Taken is completed correctly, but no other information like Camera Make, Model, Exposure Time etc.

Selecting the corresponding NEF file, File Date is completed correctly, but Date Taken is displayed as 1/01/1601 8:00:00.000 AM, and also, no other information available.

I have the latest ThumbsPlus Digicam 5.1.0.0 installed.

Any help and support greatly appreciated.

Regards

Thanks for your reply - nice to know that I am not the only one.

Thought I had a setting wrong somewhere.

Now - the million dollar question - how can this be fixed ?

No problem here with Nikon D100 an D700 JPGs.

I did not install a new Digicam plugin (but I don't know which version was the latest I installed).

Thank you for your reply.

I uninstalled the Digicam Plug-in, but this made no difference.

Still not able to view any meta-data.

Does anyone know how to load the meta-data ?

In TP 7 there is a menue "Option->FilePlugins"

here I see:

Digicam 4.1.0.0 (Dec 1, 2009)
PolyImage 2.3.4 (2009)

I don't find this menu in TP9 and I don't know if TP9 uses the same plugins as TP7. At least I did not see that an update was done.

You must have Digicam installed in order to load NEF files and their metadata.

When you right-click on a NEF file and pick "Configure file type",  the value for Load Using should be Cerious Plug-in, with to its right either plug_digicam.tpp or plug_digiraw.tpp (these represent two different loading methods, you can try both. Metadata is read when the thumbnail is made. To re-create a thumbnail after you have changed the loading method, select it and press Shift-Del to remove the existing thumbnail record, then press F3 to have it re-made).

It does and the plug-in options are at the bottom under Options in the menu (if the plugins are installed).

I'm using build 3928 and below 'external program' I have these entries:

    [*]GhostScript PS/EPS/PDF
    [*]Digicam plug-in
    [*]DCRaw plug-in
    [/list]

They allow you to set options for each of these plug-ins.

    Hi,

And thank you so much for your replies.

However - gee, I really hate this word - no metadata for nef-files are displayed.

I followed your instruction to the letter, but only metadata for jpg-files are displayed, and none from nef-files.

I can confirm I am using the latest version of ThumbsPlus and also DigiCam plug-in.

As for the Options Menu, at the bottom of this menu, I have DigiCam Plug-In and also DcRaw Plug-In.

I have tried to change the DigiCam Plug-In Options in the Nikon Tab to Use Nikon Libraries to Load Images, but still no metadata.

Your help and support is really greatly appreciated,

    Regards

    Hi,

The metadata saga - I think I have found the reason why no metadata for nef-files.

Reading the help file - which one should always do - searching on "nef" brings up a list of supported camera's and my D300s is not included.

Few years ago, I used a D200, and loading an image from my D200 in to a new ThumbsPlus database, correctly displays metadata.

I am surprised to see, that only a handful of Nikon camera's are supported, and all of rather old models.

Wonder if the list will be updated ?

I found that in my setup the NEF pictures are not displayed (seemingly just the embedded small jpgs) I don't know whether they are D70 and D100. It works with TP7. So I suppose I have no Digicam Plugin installed for fP9.
