Is it possible to: Add Program, (external video player), then associate the video files with it, so that when you click on a video thumbnail, it will open that new video player?

Since the internal video player controls don't show up! Fix please!!

Replace Video Player Association (External Programs)

Not really like that, but..:

[*]When you Doubleclick or press Enter on a file, the internal viewer/player is used to open it (it is opened for 'Viewing').
[*]When you Shift-Doubleclick or press Shift-Enter on a file, it is normally opened in whatever editor/viewer/player is associated with that filetype in Windows (it is opened for 'Editing').
[*]You can switch these actions in Options | Preferences | General | 'Default Action'.
So, when you switch these actions, ThumbsPlus will do what you want (assuming that this filetype is associated in Windows to your fav player). But if you don't, all you have to do to watch a movie file in your favorite player is to press Shift-Enter.

The filetype definitions (Options | Preferences | Filetypes) determine how any filetype is opened (Loaded) for Viewing and for Editing. You can not set the 'load using' option to an external program though (but that's where the above methods come in).

Many users just add their favorite movie players, photo editors, image viewers, etc. to the toolbar. Then, to view a movie, all you have to do is select it and click the icon of the desired player (for instance, VLC or Mediaplayer Classic). If this is of interest:

[*]You can use Options | Customize | Tab:Programs (or File | Open With | Manage Programs) to set up external programs. When you don't see a 'Programs' group in your toolbar, right-click on the toolbar and turn it on.
[*]Note: When the Options | Customize dialog is open, ThumbsPlus goes into a special mode that allows you to change some aspects of the interface. One of the things that you can do is to drag-and-drop items from 'File | Open With' to the Programs group of your toolbar. Be sure to keep Ctrl pressed down if you do this, so the items (external program links) will only be copied to the toolbar and not moved.
