ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Too Many Users
« on: 2018-08-13 08:50:42 »
When I open a second database, I get an error message saying I have too many users and the database will not open.  This has happened three times now and I have had to recreate the database by re-scanning.  Fortunately this is a small database with only a few thousand pictures in it, so it does not take too long, but it is very frustrating and if it happens to my main database it will be painful.

I have only one computer and there have been no crashes.

What is happening?

THanks
Brad

I have separated my photos into two Databases.  The photos live on separate drives and exist for separate reasons.

If I use the Backspace key to move back through folders, it does not respect the separation between Databases, and will jump to a folder in the other Database and scan in all the images.

Is there a way to limit where a particular Database will look for images?

Is there a way to automatically delete the list the Backspace key works from when exiting the program.

Is there a way to have a different Backspace list for different Databases?

A similar problem exists for the dropdown Keyword list that you get to with a right-click-slide-and-hover.

Is it possible to have two copies of Thumbsplus in separate directories so that I could start the one I want and never get any cross pollination between the two Databases.

Thanks
Brad

Is there a way to clean up the drop down lists when opening a different data base.

Thanks

Can an existing database be reconstructed with thumbnails as separate files?

Does anyone have experience with using the program in this manner.  Are their limitations on performance or options or anything else.

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Database size and Cloud Drives
« on: 2016-01-12 08:45:58 »
The size of the database has always been a issue when doing backups.  Mine is 1.3G.  I have moved my photos to a cloud drive, which seems to be working so far, but having to move 1.3G between my drive and the cloud every time I make a change is impractical as it eats up all my bandwidth for too long and sort of wipes out my dataplan when I am connecting through my phone.  Is there a way to separate the thumbnails from the database?
Is there a way to delete or diminish thumbnails for photos that have not been viewed in 60 days?
Thanks

ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / Folders on Desktop
« on: 2014-03-01 16:31:00 »
I have for a long time used the defaults when installing an upgrade.  For this last upgrade at the end of February 2014 I ended up with a bunch of folders on my Desktop.  How do I fix that?  Can I reinstall the last update without a manual Uninstall?  As long as I control where my pictures and my database live I am happy.  I really don't want to see all those other folders.

The program is working fine so far as is I just don't want to see all of the programs inner workings.

Thanks
Brad

I have just loaded V9 and it seems to be working.  I would still like to separate the thumbnails from my database.

Is there a way to convert my current database to one where the thumbnails are stored as separate files?

Thanks
Brad
