Hey Daan!
> 1) Installing to C:\Program Files\Thumbs10 was not allowed...
Sorry, XP is too far gone for me to be able to afford to cater to! It causes too many problems to allow installation into Program Files, both for people with UAC and for XP users when they upgrade. During a Windows upgrade, Windows stashes things disallowed in Program Files in bizarre and hidden folders.
> 2) This error message about my folder of choice not being accepted had an OK and a Cancel button...
Fixed in 4002 installer. The cancel button is gone and OK takes you back to the folder selection.
> 3) I went on by installing to C:\Thumbs10, and the installer suggested a Start Menu group 'ThumbsPlus'. Why not 'ThumbsPlus 10', which will not interfere with older and/or future versions?
This is fixed as well.
> 4) When the installer had completed, the last screen offers two boxes that can be marked, 'clean Install' and 'Run ThumbsPlus now'...
Clean install deletes any existing .ini, .config, .vconfig, .mmconfig, and any modified.flt, and .typ files, giving a pretty much virgin version 10 install (except for the database, of course!). I could check if any of these exist before displaying the button, but I try to avoid too much logic in the installer - it's extremely complicated already, and adding more conditional logic tends to make it more likely to break somewhere.
>5) ...Shouldn't these be in the Plugins folder instead?
I have just never moved them to the (planned long ago) plugin folder because it's easier to leave them in bin. I'll eventually remember to quit creating that folder during installation! I didn't read this far in this post yesterday or I would have done it then! :)
> Finally, the desktop icon and quickstart icon produced by the installer contain a comment "ThumbsPlus $VER$" instead of "ThumbsPlus v10".
Fixed. InstallAware is anything but consistent in where you can use variables!
Thanks!
