I am using v. 7 thumbsplus.  Is there any way to deal with moire?  Trying to photograph small kitchen tiles.

No, and until recently no software even existed that could deal with moire. Someone must have figured out how to do it though, because it is now built into many digital cameras (where it replaces expensive analog filters). Still, I haven't seen it in software yet.

Moire most often occurs when you reduce the size of an image. One thing that you can do to prevent moire is to blur the image (Image|Filter|Blur) before resizing it. When you resize the image, use either the Downsample or Bi-cubic algorithm option. Afterwards, try using Image|Filter|Sharpen|Unsharp Mask to re-sharpen the resized image.
