I'm looking for a way to manually re-order my slides in V10. Then I'd auto-renumber them to be able to preserve the sequence for a slide show. I know how to do the latter but not the former. Tips?
Thanks.

Something like this should work:
- Copy the image files to a temporary folder
- Add those copies to a gallery
- Sort the gallery the way you want (by dragging the files to their desired position)
- Select the files in the gallery and use Autorename.
- When you go back to the temporary folder, you can sort it alphabetically to get the same order that you had created in the gallery.
- Press Alt-F8 to verify that 'random order' is off in the slideshow settings, and to launch the slideshow.

Thanks for the quick response, Daan! That's a more convoluted path than I was hoping to find but sounds like it might get the job done. I will give it a try.

Well, the main thing is that when you put your files in a gallery, that's where you can sort them manually and autorename them. In my explanation, I assumed that you would not want to rename your original files and so I complicated things by first making copies in a temp folder, but that step may not even be necessary.

I've done this without using a gallery by using a user field.
Create a user field then use that to number your images in the order you want them (remembering to use leading zeros). It is then a simple job to sort the folder on the user field.

Update: your suggestion worked great. Thanks for tip on re-ordering in the gallery!

Pete,
Thanks, I will experiment with that approach as well.
