Interesting. I just clicked on Philip's profile out of curiosity, and it says he was last active 2023-11-22. That's much more recent than I expected given the lack of news, activity and emails.

General Discussion / Re: Is ThumbsPlus still in business?

I also tried digiKam. I like the UI better, but there's no automatic file tree. You have to add what's called a Collection, where each Collection is a folder and its subfolders. I think it's a tossup whether it or XnViewMP is better. I like some parts of each more than the other. XnViewMP is definitely faster when loading images, though.

Thanks, that helps. Although the actual problem I have right now is the source code is too old, and the Visual Studio I'm using is too new. I'm sure there's a way to make it work. It'll just take time.

Thanks, Daan. Now let's see if:
1. I have the time
2. I have the inspiration
3. and the ability

to write a plugin that can load HEIC files.
And
4. See if the source code can be built at all.

5
Did Cerious ever give out information on how their plugins work? Or reverse engineer the plugins. I'm wondering if it's possible for someone dedicated enough to write a plugin to read HEIC files, for example.

Thanks, Daan, for all the years of helping all of us.

I'm still hoping, but when I emailed them a few months ago, I didn't get a response at all. The previous year, I at least got a reply of "we're still here".

Daan, do you know for a fact that that is the problem? I mean that Phil has lost focus and inspiration?

I wish he could resume work, too. The next best thing I've found is digiKam, which is fidgety and has UI issues and other things. But it does handle HEIC files, which is one thing I really needed.

Daan, yes, I did back in August of 2021. I got a reply back from bugsystem@thumbsplus.com instead of the sales address. Whoever it was didn't give a name other than "ThumbsPlus Team", and said they expected a public beta in a few months. They then went on to list the features in ThumbsPlus 10. Some of the English in the email seemed a little off, almost as if English wasn't the writer's native language. It certainly didn't sound like any previous emails I've gotten from Cerious.

I'm just curious if anyone else has tried contacting them, and whether there was any response.

Has anyone been able to contact anybody at Cerious to confirm they're still working? I've finally found that I need something newer than TP 7, since I need to handle HEIC files. But I have no idea if I should still wait for TP 11 or not.

I just realized, you're also on the Ritlabs forum, aren't you?

ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / Any way to view HEIC in v7
« on: 2022-04-12 16:53:06 »
Hopefully someone still looks in this subforum. I recently ended up with a very large batch of HEIC images because I forgot to set the iPhone to use JPG. I'd rather not have to convert all the files, so is there any way to view them in ThumbsPlus v7? Maybe a filter I can associate with it?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

General Discussion / Re: Where is everyone?

Well, someone is still at Cerious. I emailed them and got a reply saying the pandemic and other factors are delaying things. They also restored the forum after I pointed out it was down. So that's kind of encouraging.

I hope everyone's doing well, too, but I am getting a bit worried. It's been a really long time since there was any kind of message, even a simple "we're still here" from the TP folks.
