Version 8 SP 1 with Windows 8.1

I emailed tech support as a registered user and never got a response, so I thought I would try here.  Can anyone confirm that Thumbs Version 8 SP 1 will not work in Windows 8.1? I ran the Windows 8.1 upgrade assistant and this was the only program I have that it says is not compatible.  If true, is there any way around it as I use thumbs regularly but really have no need to upgrade as it's much more program than I actually need.  I just have a few small preferences for using Thumbs Plus in my work flo.

I have no idea if TP8/SP1 works in Win 8.1.  If all you need is a thumbnail image viewer, give "FastStone Image Viewer" a try.  It is a free program (no adware!) and quite good.  Their web site is www.faststone.org (but seems down for maintenance now 21-Jan-2014 at 7:30AM CST).

Otherwise, install TP8 on Win8.1 and see if it works.  If not, you can uninstall it.

But I don't believe you can uninstall Windows 8.1 and revert back to 8 if Thumbs doesn't work.  I was hoping someone had already figured this out, that's why I was checking the forums.  I use a lot of the edit capabilities and filters of Thumbs.

I thought you had Windows 8.1 and wanted to know if ThumbsPlus 8/SP1 would run on Windows 8.1.  My reply meant for you to install ThumbsPlus 8 to see if in fact it would work.  If it does not, uninstall ThumbsPlus 8.  Windows 8.1 is unaffected.

Am I missing something here?

Gary, I think the OP is saying that he has TP8 working on an earlier version of Windows, wants to upgrade Windows to 8.1, but the compatibility checker is saying that TP8 won't work on Windows 8.1

He is asking if anyone has tried this BEFORE he goes ahead and upgrades Windows, only to find that he can't use TP8 any more. He can't uninstall Windows 8.1 if TP8 doesn't work.

Sorry I can't help; I'm ignoring Windows 8 and waiting for 9, which is due out in October.

Version 9 is not working with Windows 8.1 either. I can't even get Version 7 to work on Windows 8.1. Really beginning to just love Windows 8.1. And for the Sheldons in the group, that was indeed sarcasm. :-)
