database does not keep thumbs
« on: 2013-09-22 15:22:54 »
I just bought and loaded the new version of thumbs.

I am having trouble as every time I go to a directory like pictures it has that rebuild the database for the file (at least thast is what it is saying it is doing)

my folders have from 200 to 1000 items in each folder and 200,000 images total.

Are my setting wrong or what - never had this problem on any previous versions.

Thanks
Jf

It sounds like your Windows user account has no rights to write to the database file.
See Help | System Information to find out what the database path is. I suspect it's in a folder that can't be written to (eg. anything under Program Files in Vista and newer).

You could use Database | New to create a database elsewhere and see if that works better. If so, use Options | Preferences | Startup | Initial Database to make that your default database.

no this is not the problem. I started a new database file located on my desktop and am having the same issue.

I never had this issue with thumbs7 ??
I have been a thumbs user for 10 years.

as soon as I leave a directory thumbs drops the images so when I come back they are all gone.
