"fade" function not available

<< < (2/2)

jkjack:
Thanks again. I followed the steps you indicated but fade did not occur. Specifically, I applied a "sandy" filter which was much too "sandy".  As per your directions, I set the opacity slide to an extreme at each end (to gauge what this might do). The image I wished to fade remained the same. My goal was to reduce the fade. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Let's see it with a sample image... just a 24-bit .jpg photo from my old Fujifilm camera promoted to 48-bit mode via Image > Mode > 48-bit RGB.

1. Before applying the Sandy filter, I went to Edit > Copy (I have told you Edit > Copy All, but that was in T+7) to copy the entire image. Just make sure by looking at the last item in the status line (the dotted square) that there is no area selected before copying.

2. I have applied the Sandy filter (as a tip just press F to go to the Select Filter dialog).

3. I went to Image > Combine, pressed the Clipboard button for Combine With (the text (clipboard) will appear below), then selected Fade for Operation, and set the slider to 50.

Note: I always worked in 48 bit-mode and saved as JPEG only for uploading to the forum.
