General Discussion / Re: Is ThumbsPlus still in business?
« on: 2024-02-18 04:09:52 »
I am looking for alternatives to TP. I looked at both XNView and FastStone. However, one important feature of TP that I need is to be able to view multiple images at the same time in separate windows. XNV seemed to open images in separate tabs, while FS wanted to open everything in full screen. Is there any way to get separate windows with these programs? Or do you have suggestions for other programs that will let me do this?

Thanks for all your suggestions. Somehow it works now. Maybe I just had to restart it? Strange, but it works, so I'm happy.

Thanks, I tried that, but it doesn't work. I have rotated my monitor into portrait mode, so I want it to start up filling the whole monitor. Instead, it starts up on the right monitor, but with a size matching the notebook. Which means that it extends over into the notebook (which is on the right hand side).

I just had to reinstall on my notebook PC. I have two monitors, and I want my big external monitor to be my main monitor. In the past, TP started on my external monitor, but I can't get it to work now. I can't remember what I did in the past. I tried to use the Options -> Preferences -> Startup setting, but TP still started on my notebook. I went to Windows 10 settings, and made my external monitor my primary monitor. Now TP starts on the external monitor, but with the same size as if it had started on my notebook. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks! I just got a new PC, and I had to thumb all my files, which I hadn't done in several years, so I had forgotten how to do it. I eventually remembered the INS trick.

I have solved my problem, so I'm posting in case anybody else has the same problem. The reason for the problem is that the background is transparent. I use Gimp and do Filter > Animation > Unoptimise. I then check the "As animation" box when exporting, and all works well!

I use K-Lite Mega pack, and I can play all my videos. However, if I open my video folder and select scan folder, the process hangs on a small number of files, giving me an error saying "The background task failed". However, if I click on them individually, I can make thumbnails.

Since they were old files, I thought that I could just use a program like Freemake Video Converter to solve the problem, but batch thumbnails still hangs.

Any suggestion? I'm attaching the log and exc files. I honestly do not know what the problem is, and I'm afraid I don't understand those files.

Thanks!

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Bad colors in animated gif
« on: 2021-01-07 09:57:49 »
I have problems with many animated gifs. Sometimes they only show some of the images correctly, while all the images in between them have wrong colors. In this example, everything plays fine, but if I stop, and then try to move image by image using alt+page up/down, the colors are wrong. I think it has something to do with transparent background. Anything I can do with the image of ThumbsPlus to solve such problems?

Thanks!

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / DJVU files
« on: 2017-04-10 05:28:12 »
Thanks, Daan! I saw on http://www.irfanview.com/plugins.htm that there was an irfan plugin, and they have browser plugins, but as you say there doesn't seem to be a PhotoShop plugin.

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / DJVU files

Does anybody know how to thumb DJVU files? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DjVu
I have added the DJVU viewer as an external program, so I can view them, but I can't get thumbnails. I would like to see a thumbnail of the first page, just like pdf files.

Thanks!

Good point!

It opened beautifully in GSview, too!

Exactly! It opens no problem in Acrobat reader, and the security settings look normal. The first page seems to be a picture, but why should that confuse T+?

I am able to make thumbnails for PDF files using the plugin, but one of my files gives me an error about Digicam plug-in failed to load. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have a lot of problems thumbnailing video files. Some problems can be solved by deleting the thumbnails (Shift-Del) and then using Ins instead of F3. However, for many problem, it seems that you have to tweak your splitters filters/codecs. I use K-Lite's Full version, which has ffdshow.

Some of my mpg files only had black thumbnails. (It seems to be the ones with MPEG-2 Program Stream instead of Transport Stream.) I opened the Codec Tweak Tool and clicked on Codec and Filter Management: Preferred splitters. Scroll downed the left column (32-bit) until I saw .MPG. Then selected LAV instead of Microsoft. This solved my problem!

However, I don't really understand what's going on, because if click on Configuration: DirectShow Filters: Video Decoders: LAV Video decoder: Formats, I see that MPEG-2 is unchecked, so I really don't understand if I'm using LAV or not. If I click on Configuration: DirectShow Filters: Video Decoders: ffdshow video decoder (x86), I see that libavcodec is selected.

Anyway, it solved my black thumbnails.
