I've lost the Status Bar on the main window
« on: 2015-04-16 06:26:32 »
I've lost the Status Bar on the main window, where it shows the stats on the folder, the selection, etc. It's simply not there. I didn't intentionally turn it off, and am unable to find a place where it can be turned on/off or disabled. Maybe I'm just overlooking something? I've tried the various Window-Theme/Layout/Show/etc, but none of those are it.

Strange. I'm almost certain it was there the last time I used TP. I refer to it often.

I'm using version 9 SP2 build 3946 (Feb 11, 2015).

Any ideas what it might be?

Thank you.

It's a fairly common problem. Go to Help | System Info and see what your 'preferences path' is. Then exit TP, go to that path and locate the file Thumbs9.config. Open it in a text editor like Notepad.

Lookup the line that contains "StatusBar Visible" and change the line into this:

..then save thumbs9.config and your status bar should reappear when you next launch TP9.

Hey Daan. Thanks for the quick reply.

That was it! :-)

Is it known what causes that setting to get changed?

No, I haven't noticed a pattern yet. I think a few people had it happen after an upgrade but with others it seems to have occurred randomly.

Daan,

I followed your instructions. TP Help/System Info says my preferences are in C:\ProgramData\ThumbsPlus, but there is no C: \Programdata\ folder unless it's hiding. The closest-sounding folder is C:\Program Files(x86)\ThumbsPlus9\Data\ but it doesn't show anything that ends in .config.

It's probably a hidden folder then. What you can do is look up ThumbsPlus in Windows' Start menu, and then pick Utilities > View Preferences Folder. That should open your preferences folder in an Explorer window, and then you can open Thumbs9.config in Notepad from there.

Alternatively, use Start | Search to find the file.

Thanks! Oh my I wish I had found that earlier. You've saved hours of needless hovering on one of my favorite programs.

Your efforts are GREATLY appreciated.
