With Win7 I don't have this issue.
Maybe another Win10 wonder?

Did you looked into the Help?
Main window> Menus> Edit> Find> keyword
You will find the solution.

Run your findings any further?
Cerious is back on the right path, and that is important for all users.

Orpaned registry values and files are not harmful. They can be ignored. Only someone who thinks that it does not look nice, you should make the elimination. Practical benefits will not arise.

No, it is not a new problem. This are the files that could not deleted by the new installer. If you want remove 'ThumbsPlus10' (without space), you must restart Windows in Safemode and delete the folder. You can also use 'Take Ownership' but that command is not Windows standard.

I meant database-based not knowledge-based.

You are pointing on thumbnail creation.

This ist mostly not part of a database operation. The program has to resize the image to thumbnail size, then create the thumbnail. The amount of data depends on the selected thumbnail size. This requires time for the program, the database is still not at all involved.
In a database application, by the way fast storage medias are hardly advantageous because the specific data access is always very short.

I think you should accept this and simply wait. Only when the thumbnails are created  the benefits of knowledge-based photo management will take effect.

The execution is much faster than .td4 for me me. TP10 seems to have become even faster when searching. I have no Measurement it's just a feeling.

I prefer the following line:
Timeout=5000;NoCreat=Yes;SyncPragma=OFF;PRAGMA synchronous = OFF;PRAGMA journal_mode = OFF

Yes you are right this line seems to be stable in the INI, but if you use different DB's on different base this entry will change each time, you use another DB. So I prefer to programatically control this entry.

Just remember, the standard SQLite pragmas are for safe use, speed up will cost safety. But I never had problems.

Do you have programming skills? Then the problem would be easily solved with a launcher for TP. It always writes the correct line to the INI before TP starts.
I have written me such a program and I am very happy with SQLite.
Maybe Cerious has a better solution soon.

ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / thumbnails in files
« on: 2015-07-16 22:10:59 »
I have the impression that you do not understand these files correctly.
Actually, this solution is only for Jet Databases. They allow a maximum file size of 2GB. Therefore, the thumbnails are stored in separate files and not in the database. Now the file size of the database is reduced considerably.

The black boxes shows you that you delete a file, that is not orphaned. Only the thumbinformation is missing, the databaserecord with all other information (keyword ...) stil exist.

Processing the thumbfiles manually therefore is not meaningful.
Just treat your database as normal database and leave everything to TP

In case of solid black thumbs just make the thumbnail again.
If you want to remove the thumbnail use >shift-DEL<
If you want to delete tth image use >DEL<

Use Database>Advanced>Compact and repair regularly to clean up database and thumbfiles

Have you ever tried
Database>Advanced>Compact and repair.

I believe that the orphaned thumbnails are then deleted.

General Discussion / TP10 A New Buginning

I did the same with SQLite (tpdb8s)
The results are identical to TP9 and TP10

I'm not very familiar with the installation of SQL servers.
However, the SQL Server must first be installed and reported by WIN as dataprovider.
It is not a matter of TP+.

29
What Kind of Database do you use?

30
Do you have created backups of the windows partition?

The ini file is not in the install-folder but, you will find this file and all other Thumbs-Userfiles in the
Configuration folder >c:\Users\name\AppData\Roaming\ThumbsPlus\<

The formating-command deletes all data of the partition
So these files should no longer be available.
Registry entries are not used by Thumbs

So you must reinstall ThumbsPlus
The ODBC problem should be solved if Jet or SQLite is used.
Rewrite the Ini file and all other files in the configuration folder from backup.
Hopefully your Databasefile still exist.

Good Luck
Rainer
