Utilizing all processors

Just wondering if there's any way to make TP8 use the full potential of my machine.  I have two quad core Xeon processors onboard.  Checking Windows Task Manager, I find that in the most time consuming tasks (Thumbnail making and Similar Image searches), at most, the computer's CPUs are working at 20-25% of capacity.

Is there any way to make TP8 force the computer to work a bit harder?

Also, I've installed a SSD C: drive, and have the TP8 database on the SSD, but see absolutely zero improvement in processing time when seeking similar images.  This was a disappointment to me.

Running Win7Pro, 20GB RAM.  Using tpdb8s presently, but have used other database modes, no difference I can detect.

Probably not, but go to Options | Preferences | Advanced, turn "Run tasks at normal priority" on, and it might become a little less considerate of other processes than it is now. You may also want to set "Maximum concurrent tasks" to 8 if that's not already its value.

Finding similar images is CPU-intensive, not HDD-intensive. It works by comparing thumbnail metrics that are read from the database.

Thanks again for your time.  I had already made the adjustments you recommended.  So, I guess this is as good as it will get.  So frustrating to see my PC not even breathing hard though.

I also run BOINC and when I allow it full use of the CPUs, it takes it and goes!  :-)
I wish TP would do likewise.

Well, TP is multi-threaded so it's strange that you don't get higher CPU readings than 25%, even when multiple tasks are running. Have you checked the affinity values for ThumbsPlus in Task Manager?
