How Long Should a Database Repair Take?

Mine has been "doing something"  .. that green back adn forth for a couple hours now.. I think it is stuck .. Any danger in closing it or terminating the process?

On my lowly old system it takes a few minutes, but that's with an undamaged database that only had a few deleted records to clean up.
The Database Maintenance dialog gives you the name of the temporary file (that the repaired, compacted database is written to). Maybe you can look it up in its folder and see if it is still growing in size if you wait a few minutes.

btw, I wouldn't expect any damage from cancelling this procedure (that is, I've never heard of anyone having his database broken this way), but obviously it's best to always have a backup.
