General Discussion / Re: Is ThumbsPlus still in business?
« on: 2024-01-10 16:46:33 »
Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't have a Facebook account, and it looks like Facebook would be useless considering the last post was on December 20, 2018.  It's as if they just disappeared off the face of the earth and none of the email accounts I have sent emails to are replying at all.  This is very suspicious and I used to respect them for their prompt replies to emails, etc.  Now, nothing at all.

General Discussion / Is ThumbsPlus still in business?

Has anyone been able to contact ANYONE at ThumbsPlus about anything?  I have been trying to get assistance on some issues regarding a purchase and another issue and no one at TP is answering any emails.  I also tried calling the phone number shown on their website and that number apparently is disconnected and non-existent.  This is getting very frustrating.  I guess the good news so far is none of the emails I have sent have bounced back saying they are undeliverable because the email address does not exist.  But seriously, it's getting very frustrating no one responds to any emails and their phone number is disconnected.

I don't know if it is appropriate but if someone has a working phone number for them, I'd appreciate it.  The 704-529-XXXX number they have posed on their website is disconnected!

I have not seen anything in a long time from anyone from ThumbsPlus.  The latest news I see on the website is from 11 December 2019.  Also, I have not received any emails from anyone in a long time.  Does anyone know what is going on with the company?

Thanks.

P.S.  I do hope everyone is doing well these days.

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Re: Start up Splash Screen

DAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!

You are a Thumbs God!

Thanks so much!  I backed up the file folders.  There seems to me quite a few Registry entries for Thumbs, and I think it's just easier when doing a new/clean install to just use my registration key (1 step verses many).

As for the specific file path, I copied everything in the folder and it looks like all i have to do after installing is copy that info back to the specific path, and probably give my pc a quick reboot to make sure they go into effect.  Although that might not be necessary.  Perhaps just close and reopen Thumbs after copying the back up files might do the trick.

Once again thanks for your help!

Beer & Pizza on me if our paths ever cross!  Or anything else you like!

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Re: Start up Splash Screen

Here's another one for you.  I have been looking for a way to back up my ThumbsPlus settings in the event of some kind of catastrophe.  Is there any way either within Thumbs itself, or via registry entries, my personal settings can be backed up in the event I need to reinstall Thumbs?

I have a couple programs where I can save via the registry, the settings I have for those programs, but I searched through the Program and Registry and I can't seem to find anything.

That did it!!  I knew it had to be there and I just kept missing it when I looked through the start up menu.  I must have looked at it 100 times!  Thanks a lot for your help!

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Start up Splash Screen
« on: 2020-01-13 16:30:22 »
I have looked in the Thumbs menus and i have been looking for a way to disable the start up screen for ThumbsPlus 10.

Does anyone know if this is possible?  I can't seem to find a way to do it.  I just want to open the program without it displaying.

I work on 2 monitors and I have the program open on 1 monitor, BUT, when I first start the program, the start up splash screen appears for a second or so on the other monitor and sometimes disrupts what I am doing on my other screen before the program opens on my second screen.

Thanks in advance!

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Multiple Databases
« on: 2016-01-03 20:47:33 »
Hey everyone, first of all I want to thank each of you for your replies.  You have been a great help!  I agree with Gary, when you hit the 2GB limit, it can be a disaster.  And that's my problem.

I am currently running some tests, playing with Thumbs to see what my best solution is.  And from what I can tell, it's not about the number of files, but the total file size of the Thumbs database file.  Theoretically, if I had 1 file that was 2GB in size, I will have used up my entire database.  Let's hope that never happens!

First what I did was move all my files to 1 drive, scan the drive to create thumbs, and ran into problems.  As expected, the database file reached the 2GB limit.  Then what I did was move some of the files to the second drive.  I went back to the first drive, removed any orphans, and did a Compact & Repaid of the database.  I checked the 2 options for Cleanup dangling rows before compact, and Remove unused keywords from database.  That decreased the size of the database file.  I apologize I did not record the before and after file sizes.

I then moved to the second drive, created a second database, scanned, and successfully completed the task of creating thumbs for all my files on 2 drives.

So it appears I can create 2 separate database files, and keep an eye on my drives to keep certain I do not exceed the file size limitations.

Once again, I thank you all for your comments and suggestions, and thoughts.  All of you have been a great help.

I would be interested if anyone has any additional comments to add to this thread.

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Multiple Databases
« on: 2016-01-03 11:19:47 »
I have a situation where I have too many files I would like in a Thumbs database.  I have 2 SSD drives dedicated to my files.  My situation is, I like thumbnails, they allow me to easily identify my files.  If I scan 1 drive to create thumbnails, a database is created.  I am assuming when I scan the second drive, the additional thumbs will be added to that database.  But the problem is, I believe the database file becomes too large.  So my question is this... Can I create separate databases, one for each drive, so i avoid this situation and am allowed to have thumbs created for all my files?

Thanks for your help!
