Viewing mkv files
« on: 2017-11-15 14:12:53 »
Hi

I'm know I've asked this question before but I'm on a new build PC and can't remember how to do it.

Can anyone tell me how to view mkv video files in Thumbs? The software should really be able to view them like it can with all the other video formats. Feels like Thumbs is being left behind.

Anyway I'm staying with it for now so if anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Thumbs Version 10 Sp1 3011.

For TP to play a video format, you need to have a codec for it on your system. The most recommended pack of codecs is K-Lite, available [link=https://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm]here[/link].

To make .mkv and other non-standard files visible in ThumbsPlus, you'll probably also have to make a filetype definition for that particular extension. In Options | Preferences | Filetypes, you can create and edit such definitions. For movie file types, in the File Type Configuration dialog, set the "equivalent to type" field to "mpg".
