Viewing videos full screen

I apologise if I'm missing something obvious. I just installed v8 and when viewing videos the F5 key or View>Full Screen on the menu don't seem to do anything. The button at the foot of the view window also does nothing. I tried with .avi and .mpg files. It seems to work OK with static pictures.

It worked fine with my previous version (7.2).
