ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / What is happening with TP?

This may sound like a stupid question, but what exactly is happening with TP? A lot of us keep about things that worked in TP7 but that no longer works. As far as I can tell, hardly any of those things get fixed. And some that get fixed are broken again new later builds. At the same time Cerious keep putting out new versions. What is the point of the new releases? There seem to be some new Facebook features that people on this forum at least don't seem to use. Are there some great new features that Cerious think is more important than fixing the things that we think are important?

It seems to me that Cerious and this forum are on different tracks, which is a pity, since a lot of us really love TP.

I love TP! So I am very sad to see what is going on. I used to have both TP7 and TP9 installed, but some time ago I decided that I wanted to give Cerious a chance and deleted TP7. But after installing TP9SP1, and seeing how some of the problems I thought had been fixed were coming back, and reading about TP10, I took out my old TP7SP2. Finally I can view my pictures without wide black margins!

I forgot to point out that this happens on tall pictures that are so tall that they get reduced. There seems to be some kind of minimal width, and then black margins get added. Very annoying!

Hi,

First of all, I must say that for the first time in a long while I have actually seen an improvment in TP (meaning, making it closer to V7!). It seems that Thumbs9.typ is not overwritten when I upgrade.

In the past I had a lot of problem with balck margins on tall pictures. It seemed to improve, but in the latest release (3938)it has gotten worse. Now a lot of my pictures have balck margins.

I posted this in June last year. How hard can it be to fix this?

I'm tired of having to fix this manually every time you upgrade!

I have a scanner that I use with WiFi. Every time I open TPV9, I have to go to Twain Setup and reselect it. This worked under V7, but not under V8 or V9.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for raising this. This has been bugging me, too. I use K-lite, and has no problem playing. The V7 video player was basic, but it worked. The V9 player has serious flaws. The most important is that the spacebar to advance to the next video and backspace to go to the previous video do not work in V9. This is really all I need. If want to watch a video, I have installed "open with" icons for various video players. But if I'm looking through a folder using the space bar, it is a problem if the space does not work with video.

Yes, I am using the latest version. I using a WiFi printer, and every time I use it, I have to select it. V7 remembered my choice, but not V8 or V9. Let me know if you need any more details about this.

Thanks for your reply. At the moment I have both V7 and V9 installed. To be honest, I still prefer V7, but I'm trying to use V9 as much as possible to help you fix bugs. Which is why I appreciate that you're back on this forum!

I am also happy to see that there has been some improvements in V9, and my list of complaints is getting shorter. At the moment the two main reasons why I still use V7 a lot is the lack of keyboard shortcuts, and the problem with TWAIN settings not being saved.

So I hope it will be possible to sort this out somehow.
