ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / Thumbs 10 Release
« on: 2015-07-25 14:33:31 »
Thought I was the only one to have a problem with Thumbs not being able to detect scanners.

In my case it is all versions I own which have the problem, 7,9,10.

I like using the software but version 7 and before is the only version which is suitable for my work.

I found a way around the scanner problem. I change the default for pics to Thumbs 7 in Windows. Then I go to my manufacturer's scanner software to do a normal scan. When I save the pic it brings up Thumbs 7 for me to work on the photo. It actually works better than having Thumbs 7 initiate the scanning process since HP Envy remembers the last save pic name. I just add 1 number to the file name and I am on my way.

ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / Thumbs 10 Release

Downloaded it and find no reason to switch from Version 7 to 10.

Doesn't matter which version I use I cannot use Thumbsplus 7, 9, or 10 to initiate the scanning process for any of the scanners I have hooked up to my computer. They simply do not exist to Thumbs.

Version 7 handles IPTC info much better which is used on a large number of Department of Defense jpg files. Actually the only reason I use version 7 anymore is the IPTC editor and I like to quickly size scans to my screen of my computer without a hassle. Otherwise, it is useless to me too.

So no improvements here for me.

After a new system update over the last two days my scanners re-appeared in both Thumbsplus 7 and 9.

It has been about a month since they disappeared from Thumbs and now they are back.

Problem fixed...

Just for fun I went out to Microsoft Paint. This is what I got.

Both versions of Thumbs I own had no problem using any of my scanners until a few weeks ago. I am really confused on what has changed. They both quit working probably about the same time. I am guessing it was a system update or change but it is speculation on my part. I cannot think of anything else that would hit both versions.

I still use the programs and they work OK except they do not recognize any of my scanners. So I cannot use Thumbs to initiate the scanning process.

I sent a bug report in on Jan. 26th. I re-installed one program but it had no effect.

Support has not been of much help in this.

I have several scanners either hooked up via WiFi, USB or Ethernet to my PC and I have used most of them, Epson V37, Epson WF-3530, HP Envy, on my PC and used Thumbsplus 7 and 9 to initiate the scan process for photos.

Currently neither version, ThumbsPlus 7 or 9, recognizes I have scanners on my Windows 8.1 machine. I can use the scanning software in all the scanners listed above with no problem. I just cannot use any version of Thumbsplus on my computer to initiate the scan process.

At one time I had a problem with the Epson using Epson Scan's scanning software but that problem  has been fixed.

I have run two different anti-virus applications looking for some Malware but I haven't found anything.

Anyone run across this problem before.

System Information From ThumbsPlus Pro 7 and 9. Note my operating system is 8.1.

ThumbsPlus 7

ThumbsPlus 9

ThumbsPlus 9 does not recognize there are scanners in my system.
