Not sure what you mean there. For comparison, here's a screenshot of the system tray icon from the previous build of TP10 SP2 - you can see that the icon is not blank but shows the normal TP icon. Compare that with the screenshot from the latest build that's attached to my initial post, where the icon is blank:

Ok, I've sent a mail to support@cerious.com reporting the problem.

I just downloaded and installed this latest Thumbsplus build. I've noticed that when I have Thumbsplus running, the icon in the system tray does not show the Thumbsplus icon as previous builds did. See attached screen dump, where I have the mouse hovering over the system tray icon for ThumbsPlus. The Start menu and desktop icons for Thumbsplus show the correct icon, and I haven't found any problems with the app, it's just the system tray for the running app that is blank.

OS is Windows 10 x64 v1803 build 17134.

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Have to install TP9 before TP10

Or some difference between Windows 7 and Windows 10... The problem happened on both my laptop and desktop, which both run Win10.

General Discussion / Thumbsplus FAQ seriously out of date
« on: 2016-01-25 21:24:53 »
Digicam and dcraw are already part of the normal TP10 install. Separate download and install isn't needed. I found that the problem was that the install default under Options / Preferences / File Types is to have only "None" ticked, which means that only jpg files appear in the thumbnail view. After I also ticked "Camera" and "Image", the raw files appeared and could be thumbnailed.

Seems a rather strange default choice for the install. I ran an Express install, so all the choices should have been at their default values.

I had a look at the FAQ ([link=http://www.cerious.com/faq.shtml]http://www.cerious.com/faq.shtml[/link]) to see what it said about thumbnailing raw files (neither my Canon CR2 nor Sony ARW files are getting thumbnailed), but I find that the most recent version that gets a mention is TP8 SP1, now almost five years old...

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Have to install TP9 before TP10

Well, further investigation shows that the problem is with build 4007. Uninstalled it and then installed build 4004, and that accepted the license key ok, after which I upgraded to 4007 and the license information was retained.

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Have to install TP9 before TP10

When trying to install TP10 as a fresh install rather than an upgrade, my license isn't accepted as valid.

When TP10 was released my TP9 license continued to be valid for it (as per the release notes at http://www.cerious.com/release_notes10.shtml). However, after installing the latest 4007 build of TP10 as a fresh install on a rebuilt machine, when I attempted to enter my license name and code from TP9, I got the response "Code does not validate". I had to uninstall TP10, install TP9, enter the license there,  then install TP10 again, and then uninstall the no longer needed TP9.

Do I need a new license key in order to be able to install TP10 from scratch.

OS is Win10 x64. According to Control Panel, I have Thumbsplus 10 4005 and Thumbsplus Digicam 5.5 installed, and nothing else from Cerious. When I have a look at folders under "C:\Program Files (x86)", I see a ThumbsPlus10 folder (23Mb), a "ThumbsPlus 10" folder (153Mb), and a ThumbsPlus9 folder (47Mb).

Under C:\ProgramData, as well as the ThumbsPlus folder containing the database, there are two hidden folders with GUID type names:

1. "{EE7B9322-9812-4561-8632-B88B1348F4B9}" (148Mb in size), which contains files related to TP Digicam 5.4, and a folder named OFFLINE containing a whole heap of subfolders with 8 character hex digit names

From all this it looks like various ThumbsPlus installs over time have splattered files all over the place. As my C: drive is an SSD with limited space and getting quite full, I would like to know which of these folders are required and which I can delete to save space.

I just had to reinstall Windows on my PC due to frequent freezes. I re-installed Win7, then let it upgrade to Win10, installed all updates, then started installing applications. TP10 build 4004 installed and runs without problem, but TP-Digicam 5.4 won't install as it doesn't detect that TP10 is installed: "The installer cannot locate Thumbsplus on this computer. It was either not installed properly or moved manually. Please reinstall Thumbsplus before running this installer." When I installed TP10 I left all options at the default. I have also run the install a 2nd time - doesn't fix the problem with the TP-Digicam install.

How do I get around this problem.

Thanks. I hadn't noticed that Start menu entry. That enabled me to uninstall TP9.

BTW, the actual button text and progress text in the uninstaller is wrong. After gathering the information needed for the uninstall, the uninstaller put up an "Install" button that I had to click on to run the uninstall, and the progress text while the uninstall was running said "Installing...".

13
So is this updated installer going to allow me to cleanly uninstall TP9, seeing that I have already run the previous TP10 installer that has caused TP9 to disappear from the list of installed programs even though the program is still installed and can still be run.

14
I find that having installed the release version of TP10, I have separate icons for TP9 and TP10, and I can run both TP9 and TP10, but when I go to Control Panel / Programs and Features to uninstall TP9, there is only a single Thumbsplus entry, and if I try to run uninstall for that, it wants to uninstall TP10. How can I uninstall TP9?

The problem is the same on both my desktop, running Windows 7 x64, and my laptop, running Windows 8.1 x64.

I've noticed that if I have the TP9 main window maximized when I close the application, when I re-open it, TP9 opens with the window filling the entire screen but not actually maximized - the little icon next to the red "X" at the right end of the title bar is indicating that the window is not maximized, the very top of the window title bar is slightly off the screen, and I can see part of the left and bottom window borders and actually grab and drag them - window borders do not exist for a maximized window. When I click on the title bar icon to maximize the window, it maximizes as expected.

I had a look in startup preferences, and "Remember window size and position" is checked.
