TP9/3928 on XP Pro sp3 32b.

When you delete a file, the next file moves into its place and becomes selected. However, the status bar does not show the details of the file that's now selected.

System: XP Pro sp3, TP9 build 3928

I have several video filetypes (flv, mp4, webm) defined as equivalent to MPG, which in turn is loaded using Internal (i.e. through directshow, which on my system uses [link=http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/]FFDSHOW Tryouts[/link] to decode them). I can thumbnail them just fine on a one-by-one basis and the viewer shows them correctly too.

However, when I select multiple video files and press F3, ThumbsPlus doesn't thumbnail them but instead assigns a generic icon to them (of the videoplayer that these filetypes are associated with in Windows). The same thing happens when I use Thumbnail | Scan Folder or Scan Tree from the menu.

When you use the 'Include Child Folders' option to view not just the contents of the current folder but also those of its subfolders, and you refresh the folder or do something that causes ThumbsPlus to refresh it (e.g. Remove Orphans), then the 'Include Child Folders' option is turned off.

I have a few folders that are so large that 'watch changes in folder' no longer works reliably there. So, I refresh it manually very regularly, and it's a bit of a pain that I have to remember to re-enable 'Include Child Folders' everytime.

When you use multiple databases, there's a problem with external programs.

External program definitions for menus and toolbars are stored in Thumbs9.Config, but the actual program definitions are stored in the database.

Consequently, when you load a different database, TP9 still shows these external programs in the menu and in your toolbar, but they do not work.

I can think of multiple workarounds, such as not loading menu and toolbar entries for external programs if no matching definitions exist in the database, but it would be nice if TP9 would offer (once) to copy the external programs to the other database when you create or load a new database.

System: XP Pro sp3, TP9 build 3928 w/ 5-user home network license

When I use TP9 and launch a second copy, then exit that 2nd instance a bit later, the original instance will pop up an error <8041> saying that my session is not active in the database for multiuser license validation, and the program exits.

This doesn't happen until I have exited the 2nd instance of TP, so, what I think happens is that TP terminates all sessions of the current user instead of just the one that he's closing, and as a result, any other running instances are logged out too.

This is not specific to build 3928, I've seen it in prior TP9 releases too.

I often run multiple instances so I can work on multiple folders at the same time.

Until some time in 2010, Cerious Software's developers and staff used to offer technical support through its cerious.news newsgroups. The newsgroups contained a wealth of information on many advanced subjects, which was lost when the newsgroups were replaced by this forum.

For those interested, I have exported my newsgroup archives into 'unix mailbox raw' format, zipped them up and uploaded them to my Dropbox account, from which you can download them. You should be able to import the many thousands of messages into your own newsreader and then browse and search them. Original attachments such as SQL scripts and web wizard templates are included too.

It's a 117 MB download. The link is: [link=http://db.tt/XCpOgxHr]http://db.tt/XCpOgxHr[/link]

The archives are not complete (many older and less relevant messages are missing) but in all, they contain many thousands of messages from these newsgroups:

cerious.webclient.beta
cerious.webclient
cerious.tips-and-tricks
cerious.thumbs8
cerious.support
cerious.suggest
cerious.misc
cerious.capsnapper
cerious.beta.plugins
cerious.beta.old
cerious.beta
cerious.announce
cerious.advanced

For those who have already downloaded my archives when I made them available last year ([msg=67]here[/msg]): these are the same files, so you wouldn't benefit from downloading them again.

I hope that this is useful for many of you!

This one shouldn't be too hard to reproduce. It happens with a default configuration on my XP sp3 system:

[*]Open an image that's smaller than your screen
[*]Press F5 to see it full screen. Note that only your image is visible - no other screen elements.
[*]Press F5 again to return to the previous window size. So far so good..
[*]Now press Space to advance to the next image
[*]Press F5, and notice how the menu and the status line are visible in fullscreen mode.
    [/list]

While I have your attention.. :)  the following is a bit too generic and minor to bring up separately, but there's quite a lot of flashing and blinking of scroll bars and other window elements going on, and last-minute adjustments to the centering of images, when I do simple things like advancing to the next image or pressing F6 and going back to reduced-to-window view. When I press F5 to switch from maximized window to full screen mode, I get a brief glimpse at my desktop or any other open windows. In all, it's as if the viewer is rapidly making adjustments to itself and updating the screen in real-time, instead of quietly preparing these things in the background, which would give the program a more 'quiet' and solid look & feel.
