ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Database opening as "READONLY"
« on: 2017-10-04 15:34:25 »
Problem solved. Turns out that reinstalling Windows 10 reclassified all files as read-only! Via "properties" (from the Windows file tree) I was able to change the permissions on the T+ database file to "full control" and now the program appears to be working normally.

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Database opening as "READONLY"
« on: 2017-10-04 15:17:14 »
I just reinstalled ThumbsPlus 10 (SP1, Build 4011) after doing a clean reinstall of Windows 10 on my PC. When I start T+ and open my image database, I'm seeing some strange things:

* The database name shown at the top of the screen is correct but has ("READONLY)" appended at the end.

* Many options are grayed out, presumably because of the read-only status

* Thumbnails for many images that I've deleted in the past (previous install) are displayed

I have looked through Preferences and can't find any options that would affect opening the database as read-only. Any suggestions on how to get this working normally?

Note: I was careful to keep the paths to the database and image files unchanged when I performed the reinstalls.

Thanks.

Pete,
Thanks, I will experiment with that approach as well.

Update: your suggestion worked great. Thanks for tip on re-ordering in the gallery!

Thanks for the quick response, Daan! That's a more convoluted path than I was hoping to find but sounds like it might get the job done. I will give it a try.

I'm looking for a way to manually re-order my slides in V10. Then I'd auto-renumber them to be able to preserve the sequence for a slide show. I know how to do the latter but not the former. Tips?

Thanks.

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Build slideshow error 5034
« on: 2016-06-02 16:59:42 »
Got the answer and solution from Laura Shook. Apparently the Build Slide Show feature has not been working since early releases of V8. However, my timing was serendipitous, as the official ThumbsPlus v10 SP1 was released in the past couple of days and fixes this problem.

I downloaded SP1, installed it and . . . tada . . . the Build Slide Show is now working!  :-)

Thank you Cerious Software crew!!!

ThumbsPlus v10 Questions / Build slideshow error 5034
« on: 2016-06-02 16:31:15 »
I'm building a slide show in V10, SP1, using JPG images. Everything seems to go normally in the creation process (Image|Build Slide Show). The problem occurs when I try to run the slide show executable file. This yields error message 5034: "No files could be loaded for the slide show, or all loadable files were too small."

Checking that error code in the ThumbsPlus V8 user guide gives this information:

"None of the files selected were capable of being shown. The files were either not recognized or not viewable, or were smaller than the minimum dimensions specified in the Slide Show Options dialog box."

When I select the jpg files that I am using in the slide show, and press F8, the slides display just fine, showing that ThumbsPlus can recognize the files.

Regarding size, the jpg images I'm currently testing are 6000x4000 pixels (I've tried smaller sizes as well, same problem). Also, in the Options | Viewing Options | Slide Show dialog box, I unchecked "Exclude files smaller than . . . " to be safe.

So I'm running out of ideas. Any suggestions on what to try so that ThumbsPlus recognizes the files?

Thanks,
Doug

ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / 3928 No database import

Laura,
I have been using T+ V7 for several years, just upgraded and installed V9 Build 3928. I was exploring Help and forums to see how to bring my existing V7 DB into V9. Looked like V7 export and V9 import was the plan. However based on your message doesn't sound like that is a current option. Is there a workaround or best to just hang tight till V9 import is functional?
Thx.
Doug
