ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / Offline CDROMS Problems
« on: 2015-07-22 17:23:37 »
I use TP almost exclusively for archiving DVDs of images - currently around 30 DVDs.

What I am finding very annoying is that TP insists that I insert the original DVD when performing operations such as Assigning Keyords or Exporting Thumbnails to JPEG, and will then re-scan the DVD and include Folders I had previously told it to ignore.

My question is simply why is the original DVD required?
Surely all the information required is in the database?

Incidentally if I select cancel when asked to insert the DVD, TP crashes (both 9 and 10).

Hope someone can help.

You are correct - it would not have helped with the discs that had the same serial number.
Yes, Thumbsplus is cataloging different discs as one volume.
If the disc volume name is the same it is doing this.
I have 11 DVDs with the volume name 'Disc' - the default used by CD Burner XP.
Thumbsplus catalogs these as one (very large) volume.

Actually the problem is worse than I thought!
Not only do I have CDs and DVDs with the same Label - some of them have the same Serial Number.
I did not think that was possible?

Ignore CD-ROM serial numbers
This option was available in previous versions under
Disks & Folders - Volume Identification and Matching.

I can not find this option in v9.

It is vital to me that serial numbers are NOT ignored as many of my CD-ROMs have the same volume name, and without this option, they are all being catalogued as a single volume.
