ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / jpg viewer
« on: 2014-12-25 00:52:24 »
I've worked at this for a long time. Perhaps old age is setting in. For the life of me, I am unable to change how TP views jpg's. I'm tring to change "right click thumbnail" > CONFIGURE FILE TYPE from "Internal" to Microsoft Windows Photo Viewer. For what it's worth, I don't like that I have to individually select the magnification factor, one step at a time, with the Internal viewer.

Thank you, in advance, for your advice.

ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / Google Drive
« on: 2014-10-23 15:48:49 »
My TPv9sp1 is set up to keep track of all of my picture and videos in my Windows Library. I want to keep my media backup up off site, say, with Google Drive. Here's my question: Is there any reason I shouldn't simply drag my Pictures and Vidoes folders (in my Library) to my local Google Drive? Or...

To compound my question, for one reason or another that has escaped me over time, I've been creating Keywords for many many years via the Network directory. In other words, I go to my Network folder to work with my TP (I don't go directly to the Library Pictures and Videos folders [except to add files from my cameras].

Last night I noticed only the keywords only "show" if I go "through" my network folder to view my media; if I go to the Pictures and Videos folder, the keywords aren't there. So, should I just drag the Network folders (Pictures and Videos) to my local google drive location....and then just delete the Pictures and Videos folders from the Library?

It's amazing how complicated it is to explain a simple task like tying your shoes....in writing....

Thank you for your help!

ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / 2nd computer
« on: 2011-09-24 14:20:34 »
I have v8 running fine on david's computer. Debra's computer is on the same homenetwork via linksys router. On Debra's computer v8 is also installed and I am able to "open" the .tpdb8 file on david's computer.

Debra's computer "sees" the database just fine. It can even "Find" keyword queries and display the thumbnails. But, it cannot open the thumbnails. All of the database folders are gray and the thumbnails show the international "forbidden" sign.

When I try to open a thumbnail on Debra's computer, I'm presented a "Insert the Volume Labeled (which is the correct name of the folder on a USB drive(g:) connected to David's computer containing the photos), and the dialog box includes a drive letter "e:". I cannot add or change anything in this dialog box. I don't even have a drive "e:".

I've discovered I can do a keyword query on Debra's computer; note file file name of the thumbnail....and then visit David's USB Drive "G:" and open the photo but that clearly is not how things are supposed to work.

Apparently, ThumbsPlus on Debra's computer does not know where the " drive/folder can be found. What next?
