Drag and drop to Outlook not working
« on: 2018-02-25 16:09:44 »
I used to drag and drop images from TP to Outlook, but that does not seem to work any longer. I have folder operations enabled. Drag and drop from Explorer works normally.

TP 10b1 4011
Windoze 10
Outlook 2016 desktop client

Thanks for any pointers

This might happen if you are running TP and Outlook with different permissions (eg. one is running as Administrator). Could that be the cause?

No, I am running my machines as THE administrator. Does TP need a specific configuration to be recognized as as admin process? They all run from the same place, C:\Program Files (or (86) )...

Does the drag and drop work for you?

Not that I know of. Perhaps you could try running it specifically as Admin by right-clicking on the desktop shortcut and using that option.

Yes, but I use The Bat as an email client instead of Outlook.

Can you drag and drop from TP to a regular Explorer window?

Are you dragging-and-dropping a regular small JPG using a regular thumbnail (not an orphan or from a gallery)? Could Outlook be in a certain editing mode (eg. plain text vs. HTML) that makes it refuse the file?

If ThumbPlus is overlapping the Outlook window, it may help if (whilst dragging the thumbnail) you first move the cursor to the taskbar and hover over the Outlook button to bring Outlook to the foreground. Then try to drop the thumbnail, and maybe you'll get a better view of what goes wrong.

I can drag+drop the image from TP10/4013 into Thunderbird by highlighting thumbnail then right click/hold and drag the image to e-mail composition window.

I can also highlight the thumbnail then Ctrl+C to copy the actual image, then Ctrl+V to paste the image into the e-mail composition.

Puzzled why this would not work with Outlook.

Cheers,
Gary

Thanks again Daan.

I can drag and drop from Explorer to Outlook fine.

I ran T+ as well as Outlook as admin with the same result. Was worth a try.

Will submit a support ticket for this.

Jurgen,

There seems to be an issue with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.  Google "cannot drag and drop in outlook 2016" for help.

This is the first URL:
