Appears the latest update, Build 3937, also has the same issue (and others).

It cleared out it's Webpage Wizard template files, so that it can not create web pages and thumbnails now as well.  Had the joy of uninstalling and the rebuilding TP+ 9 again.

Also during the 'uninstall' it says 'installing please wait'.  Funny...

I fully get all the excuses many firms uses for why they do not reply to emails.  Have no issues with spam or junk mail blocking.  The problem is, Cerious does not take Customer Support 'serious'.  And they don't reply to emails.

Have even included phone numbers, no calls either.
Have my own domain, so it's not a blocked email as you suggest.

Remember, I get their sales and update notices, so I'm getting their emails, they need to figure out if either they are blocking customer emails, or if they want to stop ignoring them and start replying.

Yea...  its that easy and no it's not a spam or junk mail filter issue on my side.

Wondering if others have had the lack of replies to Support Tickets I have had, sent to Cerious ?

In recent years, have sent 8-10 emails to Cerious and in general, most go without a response.  Most are new issues that you can find in these forums, weeks or months later.

While the seem to release updates with as many bugs as fixes, and have ignored many bugs mentioned in recent years...  just curious if other had had the lack of reply from Cerious Support, that I have seen in recent years ?

Just downloaded K-Lite and that resolved the issue.  The  .MOV  video opens and plays in TP+ v9 now ok.  Odd that Cerious continues to have to be rigged and such to make it work out of the box...

As to Windows 8, I don't like it either much. But discs replaces VHS, and took a couple years for HiDef Dvds to stablize, and I think W8.x is not stabilized yet.  This tablet touch the screen and use your finger concept is simple dumb.  It's not a 8in screen pocket screen - so it's a pain.


BTW - warning about searching for K-Lite and other apps, I found a rogue site and my AVG flared off a possible threat.  So I went to the trusty  CNET  site and got it without issue...

Also watch out, it has 7 steps of "do you want to install extra junk" options.  Took a minute to re-read the wording to realize, you want to 'decline' and 'decline' and 'decline' adding browser add-ons, just to get to step 7 and d/l and install the K-lite itself.

Thanks for the reply about the issues in v9 and playing  .MOV  video files.

I checked the File Types in TP+ and it does have  MOV  checked enabled.

Not sure about the Codec part, but this is on a Windows 8.1 system.  And using 'File Explorer' I have no issues opening and having the video play, in the default of Media Player.  And also can play in 'Real Player', no issues there.

So is the Codec driver something extra needed by Thumbsplus to make it work, where other apps on the same PC have no issue?

When I go view a folder with pictures and video files, and if the video is a .MOV file directly from my Canon point-and-shot camera, Thumbsplus will not play it.

When I go to the folder, I see a thumbnail picture for all picture files.
But for the MOV files, I get a tiny windows type icon.
When I double click it opens the 'video player' and gives a blank, black screen.  When I click the play [>] icon, nothing happens.

So what's wrong this time with Thumbsplus v9 ?


Sure miss v7 when things...  normally just worked.

But unable to get v7 to show the thumbnail icons in a folder for pictures, just get a similar windows type icon, but it will open the photos at least.

When I go to edit a bunch of select pictures, I revise and crop and then do a 'File - Save As' and give them a new name and save to a different folder.

As example, in the folder Vacation July 2013, I have two sub-folders, one called 'Originals' and one called 'Revised'.  The originals has several hundred original pictures files, where the Revised is the handful I pick to edit, crop and then share.

So I go open Pic00015 from the originals sub-folder. then edit and crop and do a 'Save As' in to the Revised folder calling it Vac2013-A.  Then I go open the next picture file I want to edit, crop and then 'Save As' and call it Vac2013-B.

In past, it would remember, to place the Save As file in the revised folder.  It remembered where I put the last Save As file.  So all I had to do going forward after the first Save As was done, was simple Save As, and it placed the following new pictures in that Revised folder.

Can't find the setting, or did the new Build change or break the option, because now every time I do a 'Save As' it defaults to the current Originals folder.  So with every photo edit I have to go change folders again to Revised.


Is this a setting I can't find, or another thing broken with a recent update ?

Hey Dada...

Found that issue as well, the preview list of images come up as a Red X, instead of giving you thumbnail versions of the pictures.  The issue was caused by a setting in the Preferences settings area.

Going to the 'Options' drop down menu, then to 'Preferences', on the 'Thumbnails' tab, make sure you check and enable  "Make thumbnails automatically".  

Then changed folders and change back and it will automatically make thumbnail versions of the pictures for you.   (took a few minutes to remind the setting).

BTW - your initial 'Subject' really gave no clue to the issue you were having, so won't help the next guy looking for this problem.

Wow - no support from Cerious after two calls and 4 emails...

Did not find the cause or fix, but got it fixed by uninstalling the currently updated Build 3935, then installing an older early Version 9 release.  Found the Wizard then had 'Web Page Style' options to pick from (drop down was empty before). Then re-updated to the current 3935 build.

So the way I got it fixed was, uninstall Version 9, go install an early release of v9 that worked, then update it to currently.  

I'm on a newer PC and had simply done a new install of current release at the time 3 months ago, which appears to have not installed 'styles'.  But removing and installing a much older, early version of 9 seems to have installed fine.

Looking to see if anyone else continues to have this issue and if there has been fixes to this bug, mentioned by Cerious?  It's been a bug since the initial release of Version 8, and seems to have been ignored / not fixed in every update since up to the current V9 3935 release.

ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / Renaming glitch since v8

Have found a glitch in the renaming process for Photo files in Thumbsplus since version 8.  And it continues still with the recent V9 Build 3934.

What happens is when I rename a picture to a name that was used before, the rename takes but the preview thumbnail vanishes.

As example, I have Photo-1, Photo-2, Photo-3, -4 and -5, after some edits.  I decide I don't want to use  Photo-2  any more so I delete it.  I think go to rename  -3 to be Photo-2, and it takes the change then the thumbnail vanishes.  Then rename -4 to be -3, same thing.  And rename -5 to -4,  same thing.

The rename takes.  If I change folders, to another folder, then come back, the photos are there, -1 -2 -3 and -4.

Have reported several times to Cerious since v8, no fixes.
Anyone having or seen this issue?

Have found in ThumbsPlus v9, when I try to use the 'Web Page Wizard', that the feature no longer works.  

And appears to be due to a missing table option, when you first start the wizard, the first window is where you have two drop-down tables to select the... "Select Schema" and to "Web Page Style".  Even doing a preview does not work.

Have uninstalled and reinstalled v9.  Even uninstalled and did a new install of the recent V9 Build 3934, which has no effect, it still does not work.  These drop downs are blank, so it seems the wizard has no schema or style templates to use and create the page.

Any thoughts?
