This sounds almost too good to be true!  Here's hoping that the next build fixes a lot of bugs.

General Discussion / MYSQL script for Thumbsplus 9 ???

Dirk,

Would you be willing to share detailed steps on how you got MYSQL to work with TP7?  Using MYSQL should remove the 2GB database limit, right?  Are you using the free version of MYSQL?

Kindest regards for your consideration.

ThumbsPlus v7-v9 Questions / TP& Preferences for a hot-rod
« on: 2013-01-09 11:03:12 »
hello michael,

i cannot be any help on the performance settings, but i can vouch for putting the database file on your SSD.  i have image files on a HDD and the database on a SSD.  the performance improvement over having the database on the HDD is significant (especially when compacting the database).  i'm sure you could further improve the performance of TP by putting the image files on the SSD as well.  my SSD is too small to contain the image files as well as the database file.  :(

cheers,
gary

General Discussion / Thumbs+9Pro Database errors
« on: 2012-12-02 21:54:49 »
Kyle,

This is just a shot in the dark - when you log on to Win7, are you an administrator?  "C:\ProgramData" is a system hidden folder and there might be a conflict trying to open the database file in that folder if you are not an administrator.

Try this - go thru all the errors and when you get to #7, chose "Create a new database" and create it in your "C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\ThumbsPlus\" folder.  If that works, go to Options, Preferences, Startup tab and set the initial database to the one you created.

Please let me know ...

Kyle,

It sounds like something went bump during the install process.  When I installed V9, the default database was created as "C:\ProgramData\ThumbsPlus\Thumbs.tpdb8".

The V9 setting files are stored in the folder "C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\ThumbsPlus\".

Can you use a file manager, like Windows Explorer, to find out what files are located in "C:\ProgramData\ThumbsPlus" and "C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\ThumbsPlus\"?  (Specifically, you are looking for the file "Thumbs.tpdb8".)

Also, you will not be able to open your V7 database file with V9 unless it is converted.

General Discussion / Ver. 7 AND Ver. 9?

Connie,

This is my best advice - don't bother with V9 at this point.  There is absolutely nothing to be gained over V7.  Absolutely nothing.

Kindest regards,
Gary

I use TP7 on Win7 64-bit.  I have not experienced a single problem.
